WordPress XML RPC Configuration

WordPress uses XML RPC to keep your blog updated in search engines and feed directories. Every time that you add a post or modify an existing page or post WordPress automatically “pings” every site that is included within your ping settings. WordPress comes default with only 1 ping directory: pingomatic. While pingomatic is said to reach out to everyone, we have found that webmasters must include all the major ping sites to insure that they are all notified when your site has an update. Below is where to find the settings for WordPress XML-RPC.

XML RPC Setup In WordPress

There is some confusion as to where you add the XML RPC directories within WordPress. In the latest versions of WordPress the place to add your XML RPC directories is in the settings - writing. At the bottom of the page you will find a text box:

Your screen will only show the pingomatic URL, but that is where you would paste the list of XML-RPC directories that will keep your site updated online.
